How this is calculated
The tool turns your annual rate into an effective yearly rate based on how often it compounds, then works out the rate for each contribution period. That is what lets compounding and payments run on different schedules, like monthly deposits with daily compounding. It starts your balance, adds each contribution, and applies interest every period. END timing means each deposit lands at the end of the period, which matches a standard financial calculator.

How this is calculated
Each month, interest is added to every balance at its APR divided by 12. You pay the minimum on every debt, then whatever budget is left over goes to one target debt. Avalanche targets the highest rate, snowball targets the smallest balance. When a debt hits zero, the money that was paying it rolls into the next target, which is what makes both methods speed up as you go. The final payment on each debt is only as large as the amount left, so it is not rounded up to a full payment.
